You can also find scrap metal in garages and shed of your family and friends, most of the time they will let you clear out their garage just to get rid of a mess and you can keep the scrap. Machine shops are another great place to try and get scrap. They usually have odd shaped leftovers that they would be willing to sell cheap or even give away.

Of course metal prices for different types of metals vary by supply and demand. Iron is usually on of the cheapest metals, while bronze and copper are highly sought after and more expensive. Then of course are the precious metals such as silver, gold, and platinum that are through the roof.
